Rich spent 3 1/2 years playing for the Canadian Forces Europe Pipes and Drums under P/M Hugh Macpherson in Lahr, Germany.

Jim Allen - Tenor Drummer

Jim joined the band in 2003, and played with the band for several years before retiring in 2011 at the rank of Corporal. He was a dedicated member, and a talented player. He helped the tenor section immensely, especially the newer players who needed to get on their feet quickly.

Ian Boyd - Drummer

Ian played snare drum in the band from 2006 to 2007 when he moved on to pursue his college degree.

Matthew Brenzo - Piper

A piper in Grade 3 individual competitions, Matt left the band in 2010 to pursue his college studies.

Bill Burdette - Snare Drummer

At the invitation of his college pal Ken Smith-Christmas, Bill joined the band as a side drummer in 1974 and was a member until 1983 having attained rank of Drum Corporal. Bill went on to play for the world-famous City of Washington Pipe Band.

Frank, a former Pipe Major of the band, took the lead in being the "sound" man for the band and kept everyone in tune!

Rab Carrick - Tenor/Bass Drummer

Rab, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, learned with the Boys Brigade and then played with the famous Clan McRae Pipe Band.

Matt Dolan - Lance Sergeant Piper/ Quartermaster

Matt joined the band in 2006 and became One of our most consistent pipers. He also served as band quartermaster from 2007 to 2009 when he relocated to the Boston area.

Jim Dullea - Piper

Jim started piping after retiring from the Navy as a Captain. He joined CAPD as a recruit in 2008. He is a submarine naval architect with a passion for piping and sailing, although rarely can he find an opportunity to do both simultaneously!

Tom, as the Bass Drummer, provided the heartbeat of the band. He was one of our most consistent and reliable performers for many years.

Mike Hamilton - Piper

Mike was a piper with CAPD from 2003 until 2009. A true gentleman, Mike always gave a great effort. The band wishes him him all the best in his retirement!

Helen Harlow - Tenor Drummer

Helen, originally from Scotland, is the guru for piping competitions at many of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) Games; Helen is also responsible for EUSPBA Memberships.

Joe was a member of CAPD from 2002 through 2013. We were not quite certain what Joe did for a living as he informed us that "if he tells us he would then have to kill us"????

Richard Hunter - Corporal Piper

After learning the pipes in college and playing with various bands in the 1960s, Dick returned to piping in 2003 after an hiatus of over 30 years. He played with CAPD for twelve years, serving also as backup drum major when needed, until age-related decrepitude forced his retirement in 2015. Now living in Baltimore, he keeps closely in touch with the band's activities and progress.

Kevin MacIntosh - Piper

Kevin was in the CAPD from 1996 to 2000, and served as pipe sergeant during that time. His honors include being named the Champion Piper of Zimbabwe and the South African Piping Champion.

One of our most accomplished young pipers, Sam was with the band in 2006 and 2007. He left the band to pursue his studies at the College of William and Mary.

Paul Murphy- Piper

At 13 years old, Paul played with the skill and poise of a veteran. His performances of Amazing Grace never failed to please an audience. A member from 2007 to 2009, Paul is now a student at University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Harry Raab - Snare Drummer

Harry retired from the band in 2007 after many years of distinguished service as Drum Sergeant. He was one of our most accomplished side drummers and was responsible for many of the scores played by the drum section.

Dan (hole-in-one) Sloan was a mainstay in the band for many years, serving as sergeant quartermaster. He retired to Florida in 2007.

Ken Smith-Christmas - Snare Drummer

Ken was one of the founding members of the band and served as Drum Sergeant on numerous occasions over the years! Ken speaks several languages; however, he made most of them up himself! The band spent much time looking for Ken, who was always sneaking off to "play" (we use the term loosely) his fiddle!

Jim joined CAPD in 2008, bringing with him many years of drumming experience. He was a member of the world famous Old Guard Fife and Drum Corp. In 2009, he took on the duties of Drum Sergeant/lead drummer. He retired from the band in 2014.

Dorothy Taft - Piper

Dorothy joined the band in 1984. Proud of her Douglas ancestry, Dorothy prepared a CD of Douglas-related music and verse, entitled: O Douglas, O Douglas, Tender and True. and a book "Scotland through the Douglases" which offers historical detail about the Douglases during Scotland's years of independence (1320-1707).

Jim took up the drums after his attempts to become a professional baseball player failed!!! Jim started with the band in 1984.

Matt joined our drum ranks in 2007 bringing a wealth of experience from playing with the world famous Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. He left the band in 2012 to focus on his other passion, the triathalon.

Greg was a member of the pipe ranks from 2004 through 2007. He also played with the Honolulu Police Pipes And Drums, and the University of Mary Washington Pipes And Drums. He retired from the US Marine Corps and now lives in South Carolina.
